Annapaola Rizzoli

Annapaola Rizzoli, born in Cavalese (TN) in 1963, works in the sector of Agricultural and Veterinary Sciences. Graduated in Veterinary Medicine with full marks at the University of Milan in 1989, she subsequently obtained the title of Doctor in Research in "Comparative pathology of domestic and wild animals".

She subsequently carried out scientific research in the field of parasitic and infectious diseases of domestic and wild animals at local and international level, with particular reference to vector-borne diseases and agro-forest and food zoonoses. The research activity was carried out mainly in the context of projects with competitive funding, obtained both locally (various competitive projects financed by the Fund for Research of the Autonomous Province of Trento), national (projects funded mainly by the Ministry of Health) and International (Projects financed in the 6th and 7th Framework Program, in the H2020, by the European Center for Diseases Prevention and Control ECDC).

Since the beginning of her work at the Center of Alpine Ecology in 1993 and later at the Fondazione Edmund Mach (Research and Innovation Center), she has developed considerable skills in the field of basic and applied scientific research of a multidisciplinary nature, acquiring important organizational, managerial and coordination skills of complex research groups on strategic issues, both locally and internationally. This is demonstrated by the appointment of Dr Rizzoli in various Research Evaluation Committees at international level and scientific coordination at various levels in the context of European Projects (Eurowestnile project, EDENext project).

The ability to combine high-level basic scientific research with applied research and the transfer of knowledge acquired in the various projects to the territory is demonstrated by the recent acquisition and coordination of the large LExEM project (www.lexem.eu) which includes basic and applied research activities on topics of strategic interest to the local agricultural and health sector (Mitigation and sustainable control of invasive species such asDrosophila suzukiiandAedes albopictus) also involving collaboration with the FEM Technology Transfer Center.
