Research: Immunological research at the institute focuses on immunosenescence, particularly within the T cell and B cell compartments and the human bone marrow. Dr. Weinberger is interested in the question how vaccinations can be optimized for the older population and is working on several projects analysing immune responses to vaccination in this age group.  

Other activities: Deputy head of the Institute for Biomedical Aging Research; member of the German Society for Virology, the Austrian Society for Allergology and Immunology, and the Austrian Society for Vaccinology
