Carlo Leifert

Dr Carlo Leifert holds the research development chair in Ecological Agriculture at Newcastle University and has successfully supervised 30 PhDs (20 as 1st supervisor and 10 as co-supervisor) and three MDs (Medical Doctorate; two as 1st and one as co-supervisor) over the last 20 years.
He is an expert on organic and low-input production systems design and has worked extensively in integrated crop protection methods for soil borne and foliar diseases. He has been the co-ordinator of six large collaborative R&D projects in FP4, FP5, FP6 and FP7 and is an author of more than 120 peer-reviewed publications. At Newcastle University he is currently delivering a CPD course on R&D project planning and management for postgraduate students and early stage researchers.
