Project: Intestinal microbiota and energy metabolism: measuring the impact of diet: microbe interactions on host health. The intestinal microbiota is known to play an important role in host metabolism, growth and health. However, we still do not fully understand how diet can shape the gut microbiota and determine its ability to regulate host physiology. Within the framework of the EUREGIO-Environment, Food and Health project, I will examine how diet can shape the intestinal microbiota and measure how changes within the gut microbiota are linked to body weight, disease risk and physiological function.

Host Institute: Fondazione E. Mach (FEM), supervisors: Prof. Nicola Segata (UNITN), Dr. F. Fava, Dr. K. Tuohy (FEM).
