Education: MSc Chemistry and Advanced Chemical Methodologies, University of Camerino UNICAM, Italy

Present position: PhD student in the Bioorganic Chemistry group (Prof. Guella) Department of Physics at University of Trento.

Project: MS andNMR based Lipidomics.Lipids (in all the enormous chemical diversity produced by living organisms) are a very important classof metabolites because in addition to playing a structural role in cell membranes many of them act assignaling molecules and /or are able to interact and regulate functions of very important enzymes. In this project, metabolomics investigations using MS techniques will be joined by lipidomics using NMR techniques, not only to arrive at an accurate determination of the lipid profile in the biofluids of thevolunteers but also to discover possible markers of incipient states of obesity or similar diseases. The lipidimomic approach should provide important information on the effects of lipid biomarkers in the diet.

Host Institute: University of Trento, supervisor: Prof. Graziano Guella.
